Shiseido #ShareBeauty Event – Recap

Hello Friends!

This is an exciting moment for Boldly Beautiful, my first event recap blog! I’ve been patiently waiting for this day to come so I could capture every exciting moment and share it with you.

For those who haven’t been following along, I was recently invited and chosen among many other talented beauty bloggers to attend the Shiseido #ShareBeauty Campaign Event, hosted by Dave Lackie and Shiseido Canada. It was held at the breathtaking Thompson Hotel in the heart of Toronto, Ontario, overlooking the beautiful City I call my second home.



We were the first group in the WORLD to get a behind-the-scenes look at the new #ShareBeauty campaign, which hasn’t even officially launched yet. I’ll get more into the purpose of the campaign later on in this article, it really is a beautiful message they’re sending.

We were greeted by Dave in the front lobby and he escorted us up to the Rooftop Bar & Lounge of the Thompson. The rooftop overlooked the entire City, with phenomenal views of the famous CN Tower. The view was absolutely breathtaking. At this point I felt like I was in a dream and woke up in photo-op heaven.

We were given complimentary cocktails and/or drinks of our choice. I chose a glass of Riesling white wine, of course. Where’s my wine-o’s at?


After we mingled and got some good photos in, we were escorted once again by Dave and his team down to the Private Screening Room – where the presentation by Shiseido was about to begin.

The room was awesome! It was pretty much a private movie theater with exceptionally comfy seats and little desk areas with a beautiful set-up from Shiseido to greet us.





We then lined up in groups and got to learn about some of their new products, and test a few out too. The set up was once again stunning, and they had the loveliest team presenting the products to us.

They even had a station set up to get colour-matched to the perfect foundation shade! As part of our take home gift, we got a full bottle of the Shiseido Synchro Skin Foundation. To ensure we all went home with the correct shade – every single one of us had a 1-on-1 with a beauty expert as they helped pick our own unique shade. I thought this was absolutely wonderful. I’m also on the hunt for a new foundation, so this couldn’t have come at a better time. Hehe.

Oh, and did I mention there was an all-you-can-drink wine bar? Yeah. I know. Just breathe, take it in, take it in.


Once we got settled in our seats, we were invited to grab some food from the delicious buffet style set up. The food was exceptional! Seeing as I hadn’t eaten anything since 11 a.m. that morning, it’s safe to say I dived riiiiiiiiiight in.







#ShareBeauty Campaign Presentation

Now for the exciting part!

We took our seats and were given a brief introduction from Elaine Shigeishi, General Manager of Shiseido Canada. This is my third time meeting Elaine and I can safely say she gets sweeter and sweeter every time I see her. She truly is a joy to be around. She radiates such positive vibes and is extremely passionate about her company. She’s an inspiration to me and someone I look up to. I’m so thankful I got to spend 3 amazing events with her and Shiseido Canada.

The motive behind #ShareBeauty is a pay-it-forward innovative campaign to show that beauty truly radiates from the inside.

We were shown a never-before-seen (we were first in the WORLD!) clip of the campaign which shows various women speaking on what beauty means to them. Strong descriptive words emerged from the clip and the main focus was based around characteristics, rather than physical beauty. Which proves, beauty really does start from the inside.



Elaine then proceeded to ask us what beauty means to us. Many responses were shouted out from across the audience with powerful messages such as Self-Expression, Confidence, and Kindness to name a few.

“Do you notice none of the responses you gave said anything about lips, or eyes, or hair?” said Elaine as we sat there taking in the meaning behind the movement.

At that moment I realized Shiseido and I have more in common than I ever knew possible. I felt as though I was part of the campaign myself. Beauty, to me, is not about physical appearance. It’s when you radiate so much positivity and self-expression that your natural beauty shines through, way beyond past the physical aspect.

The quote above gave me chills.

We were then shown another video clip of women who were inspired by someone special in their life. They briefly told their stories and why the individual was, in fact, beautiful to them.


In this video, we got to hear an emotional piece from Katie Shim  on how her aunt took on the responsibility of raising her after she lost her mother at a young age. The best part? Katie and her Aunt were at the event with us as special guests. We were so thankful to have them there, and there wasn’t one single person who wasn’t moved by their story. I am so grateful to have met you, Katie!

The video and the message behind it was so emotional, they had the crew hand out kleenex to all of us. I thought this was absolutely adorable, and so amazing. You can tell a brand really promotes the beauty of the message when even they need kleenex for themselves. 


When the presentation was finished, we were handed these adorable little envelopes.


Inside, was a blank card that read “You are beautiful to me because…” and we got to fill out a message to someone special in our lives and send it off to them. Shiseido will be mailing all of them out, free of charge.


Also inside the envelope, they receive a sample of the Shiseido Ultimune serum and a little card that instructs them on how to properly use it.

Great news, you can join in on this too!

When the campaign launches, you can visit any Hudson’s Bay for the month of April and head on over to the Shiseido counter to send one of these packages to someone special in your life, completely free!

They will receive everything you see here. The handwritten card from you, the instructional card and the Ultimune sample.

For the month of April the #ShareBeauty campaign will be hosted at all Hudson’s Bay’s locations across Canada. After April, it will only be offered at exclusive locations. Luckily, Hudson’s Bay in Toronto is one of the locations that will still be hosting this all year round.
